What I Wore: Stylist’s Closet Launch

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a sit-down launch talk with Mari Jasmine and Tim Yap for Ayala Mall’s Stylist Closet. It was the exclusive media event to prep the runway show, so I wanted to bring my outfit A-game!

Since Mari was going to be discussing her personal style philosophy, I was sure to embody my own with this all black ensemble.

To keep things tasteful, I wore a silk bralette from People Are People as the base for my upper half. Can I just say— I adore People Are People. Without a doubt, it’s my favorite store of all time and if I could buy all my clothes from there, I would. Way too underrated in my point of view!

Outerwear

I topped off the bralette with the Hariette coat from Neutrals & Co. The silk lapels perfectly matched that of my innerware. It’s long enough to be treated as a dress, but short enough to work well layered underneath something too.

Bottoms

This ruched skirt from Forever 21 served as the textural accent of the outfit. I hiked it up to waist to also serve as some sort of corset to further cinch my blazer.

Shoes

Perhaps one of my favorite kicks is this pair of black YSL gladiator-type heels. I loved how the silver buckle in the front matched the silver buttons of my blazer and the silver chain of my purse.

For some extra pizzaz, I paired this with some simple white tube socks straight from high school uniform days.

Accessories

The perks of wearing a plain black outfit is being able to add any pattern to it without disorienting the look. I’m sporting a black and white houndstooth paperboy cap— my favorite kind of cap— from Rubi by Cotton On.

For my purse, this crocodile skin YSL flap bag was the ribbon that tied all the tones together with its crisp black body and sleek silver chain.

What was your favorite part of the outfit?
